herpesvirus disease
a disease of salmonids such as fry of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) caused by Herpesvirus salmonis. Causes lethargy, gill pallor, popeyes, eye and fin base haemorrhages, necrosis of the myocardium, liver, kidney and posterior intestine, and affects the blood (low haemotocrit and immature erythrocytes). Mucoid faecal casts trail from the vent because of the necrosis of the posterior intestine
